When I first got started homebrewing I almost immediately got into cooking up stuff that was "a little different" or just downright "weird". As I merged my homebrewing and SCA hobbies, this worked out just fine and proved to lend itself perfectly to some period beverages. I brew just about anything from wines and meads, through beers and ciders, right into stuff like braggots, cysers, pyments, and have even put my hand to recreating a hybrid brew (beer/wine/mead) based on scientific analysis of ancient pottery fragments. I do maintain a seperate website devoted to all of my homebrewing, both in and out of the SCA, so feel free to visit Laughing Dragon to see what's brewing. As head of the Kingdom Brewers' Guild I have coordinated a number of activities over the years, including the guild's contribution to the AEthelmearc party at Pennsic (often including a sizable contribution of my own). I am often asked to judge brewing competitions in the SCA, including InterKingdom Brewing Guild events, where I am recognized as a master. But for the most part I enjoy facilitating uncounted Brewer's Roundtables (including the Knowne World Brewer's Roundtable at Pennsic). I do teach a couple of brewing classes, mostly in the SCA, but sometimes outside of it as well:
Over the years I have entered into a number of brewing competitions, mainly within the Inter-Kingdom Brewers Guild. |
