Combat archery is one of my passions. Not only do I take my bow onto the field whenever it is feasible, but I gladly teach the various rules and tactics of CA to others. It was probably these traits that prompted Their Sylvan Majesties, Khalek and Branwyn, to appoint me as Their Combat Archery Commander for Pennsic War XXXVII and for me to have been continually appointed since. Similarly, Her Grace Tessa appinted me as her regional deputy for CA in AEthelmearc's Region 5.

Classes that I teach:

  • "Intro to Combat Archery, or: How to have fun shooting your friends!"
  • "CA/Siege Primer for Line Fighters, or: Uhh, Am I Dead?"
  • Combat Archery Training and Tactics

When I was first appointed as CA Commander for AEthelmearc, it occurred to be that the greatest hurdle faced by the CA community was a lack of standardized training and lexicon. The rest of the fighting community does have some fairly uniform terminology, and while training regimens vary from region to region, this is okay since those that are trained similarly tend to fight together. The Combat Archers also tend to fight together (or at least operate together even if not fighting in the same units), even if they come from completely different Kingdoms. So I set out to rectify our lack of cohesiveness and create a series of Training and Tactics Guides to help us all get onto the same page. A separate appendix summarizes the salient bits for unit commanders. These guides are the much-expanded second revision to the original guide that I put out over a year ago and are still evolving with feedback received from many sources within the CA community.
