Of course, once I had a couple of nice bows I decided that it would also be a good idea to have something sturdy to carry them in - even more so if they might end up in my trailer (the longbows being a bit unwieldy to fit in the car, especially when packed with other things). So I set about building appropriate bow cases - one to hold my target bows (a longbow and a recurve) and one to hold the combat bows of myself and my wife (two longbows and two 'back-up' fiberglass recurves).

Both cases are constructed of 1" thick dimensional pine, are felt lined, and have tie-downs, folding handles and latches. Each also has an interior latched compartment for additional range equipment (shooting gloves, bow stringers, string wax, etc). All edges and corners were rounded with a router for a smoother look that also makes the cases (quite tall since they each contain a longbow) less likely to ding something up.

After a few years of having not only our own axes and knives, but the Dominion's loaner gear toted around in a milk crate, my wife and I decided that a "range in a box" might come in quite handy - especially since as the regional marshal she was being asked to tote things around a fair bit more. Hence, I designed a nifty box that holds our gear, the loaner gear, and all the other necesary bits and pieces (spare handles, tape measure, files and whetstone, etc.) that we need when running a thrown weapons range.
