I've always liked working with my hands, but I really got into woodworking when I decided that a more period look was befitting of our camp at Pennsic. Some of the results have been fairly typical period-like or generally period projects, like the break-down trestle table. Others are period-inspired, such as the series of Osberg-style viking sea chests that I designed and built. Much of it was also put together on a timeline and a budget. Later additions and special projects are evident through the use of better materials as well as efforts to use period construction methods (or at least better hide modern ones). One of my developing interests is specifically in chests and boxes - from the Oseberg and Mastermyr Viking finds, through the finds of the Mary Rose to Japanese tansu.
